I was born and raised in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. I received my bachelor degree in medical laboratory science from Addis Ababa University and received my Master of General Public Health from Haramaya University. I have got a deep rooted passion for research, especially clinical trials and am particularly interested in the genetic components of psychiatric disorders. For the past two and a half years, I have and continue to work on a double blind, randomized and placebo controlled drug trial that includes 200 treatment-resistant schizophrenia patients in order to examine the efficacy of a four-month trial of folate supplementation with B12. In five years, I hope to be an independent researcher with sharp project management and writing skills. Whenever I am not working, I savor moments with close friends and watching movies.
