Megan Campbell – University of Cape Town, South Africa

I currently live in Cape Town, but I have been lucky enough to call various parts of South Africa home throughout my life. I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Cape Town in genetics and psychology in 2017.  In 2018, I completed an honours degree in Human Genetics which examined the genetics of bipolar disorder in a South African cohort. Currently, I am enrolled in a master’s degree in the same division, and my work involves investigating the genetic overlap between various psychiatric disorders and altered brain structures. I am interested in neuropsychiatric genetics research conducted in South African and African populations and I hope to pursue this line of research. In five years’ time, I would like to have my own veggie garden, and be funded by a faculty position at a university in South Africa.
